UCO Wins MIAA Championship

The University of Central Oklahoma soccer team won its first Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association championship Sunday following a 4-0 win at Missouri Western, coupled with a 3-1 loss by Central Missouri at Emporia State.

The Bronchos, ranked 10th in the country, are 16-0 this season and 9-0 in the MIAA.

"I just want to say how proud I am of this team," UCO head soccer coach Mike Cook said. "They have worked so hard to achieve this goal, but it's not our top goal. We are focused on doing something very special here. We'll celebrate this for a minute and then turn our focus to the next game."

UCO has two games left in the regular season. The Bronchos host Northeastern State on Friday night, and Missouri Southern on Sunday. Regardless of the results, Central will finish with the best record in the league for the first time since joining the MIAA in 2012.
