EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team hosts Oklahoma Christian at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wendell Simmons Field in the final non-conference game of the season for the Bronchos.

UCO (14-5-1) beat Oklahoma Christian 12-8 in Oklahoma City on March 1. Wednesday is the second and final game of the series this season.

"It's going to be good to be back home," UCO head coach John Martin. "We just played five on the road and will hit the road after Wednesday, so we need to take advantage of this game and do what we can to get a win."

The Bronchos are looking to get back on track after losing to Central Missouri on Sunday in Warrensburg, Mo. UCO won 1 out of 3 last weekend against its MIAA foe, and split a doubleheader with Southeastern Oklahoma State a week ago.

UCO on the season is scoring 7.7 runs per game but last week scored less than four per game.

Caleb Peters has emerged as Central's leading man at the plate, hitting a team-high .475 in 13 games played this season. He leads the team with five home runs and also has 12 RBIs.

Anthony Alvarez's .419 batting average is second on the team. Alvarez led the Bronchos last week going 7 of 17 in five games played. Alvarez scored a team-high three runs on the week as well.

Holden Capps finally took a loss on the mound last week – the senior lefty is 4-1 on the season. But Capps continues to lead the staff and has 33 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched.

Tyler Culver picked up his second win of the season against Central Missouri last Friday. The junior has started three games and has 4.38 ERA in 12 1/3 innings this season. As a team, the Bronchos boast a 4.45 ERA.

Brock Ruminer leads Oklahoma Christian into Edmond Wednesday. Just a freshman, Ruminer leads the team with a .450 batting average. Ruminer has only played in 8 of 22 games for Oklahoma Christian though, and did not play against the Bronchos two weeks ago.

Oklahoma Christian has four players who've made appearances in 20 games this season. One of them, Chase Kuwitzky, had a team-high three RBIs against UCO the last time the teams met.

Central Oklahoma takes off to St. Charles, Mo. this weekend for a three-game MIAA series with Lindenwood. The first game is Friday at 6 p.m. with games also scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
