Falyn Lifts UCO Past Bearcats

EDMOND (Sept. 27) – Falyn Dodd scored both Central Oklahoma goals to lift the Bronchos to a 2-1 victory Mid-America Athletics Association rival Northwest Missouri Sunday afternoon at Tom Thompson Field.

Dodd scored once in each half and UCO's defense dominated for most of the game as the Bronchos improved to 4-3-1 on the season and 1-0-1 in the conference.

"We had a chance to score several more goals and weren't able to convert, but our defense was solid," head coach Mike Cook said.  "Falyn did a great job finishing her chances and we came out with a win we needed to have."

The Bronchos outshot NWMSU 18-11 in the game, including 12-5 in shots on goal.

Dodd's first score came 9:10 into the contest when she knocked in a shot from close range after Camrie Hurst's offering from 15 yards out went off the post.

It stayed 1-0 until the 67th minute, with Dodd again doing the honors.  This time the freshman gathered in a rebound shot from Ashley Snider and booted it in from 10 feet away.

That 2-0 advantage was more than enough for UCO, with the Bearcats getting their lone goal in the final three minutes.

Camrie Hurst, Quinn Tookey, Courtney Cox, Casey Herndon and Snider led the defensive efforts for the Bronchos, while Elle Stover made four saves in going the first 70 minutes in goal.

UCO goes on the road for two league games next week before returning home Oct. 2.
