"We got off to a slow start and didn't play our best, but I was proud of the way we bounced back after losing the first set," head coach Edgar Miraku said.  "It was a tough road trip and I thought we handled it well.  We just need to keep working hard at getting better every day, which this group has done."

UCO trailed 8-3 early in the first set and dropped just its fifth set of the season in falling into an early hole, but the Bronchos quickly recovered by dominating the next two sets.

The Bearcats had a 4-3 lead early in the second set before Young had three kills to key a 5-1 run that put  UCO in front to stay at 8-5 and Vernon had the last three kills to close out the nine-point victory that tied the match.

The Bronchos took control in the third set, getting two kills apiece from Barr and Jackson in a 9-1 spurt that turned a precarious 12-11 lead into a comfortable 21-11 cushion en route to a 12-point win.

UCO then closed out the match in the fourth set, jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead and turning back a pair of SBU rallies down the stretch.
