"We are extremely proud of Maddie and Amy," said head coach Andrew Derrick of the selections made by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association. "Their hard work has been recognized and brought acclaim to our whole program.  They would be the first to mention they would not be receiving this honor without their teammates who helped make it possible."

Martens, a junior from Perry, was named a first-team All-American, becoming only the third Broncho to be recognized as one of the top nine Division II rowers in the country.  Jenna Goodner was named to the team in 2013 and Jessica Lawson in 2012.

Martens just completed her second year as a member of the team, walking on during the fall of 2012 and quickly rising to the Varsity 8+ during the following spring. Thus far Madison has attended the NCAA Division II Championships as a member of the Broncho Varsity 8+ each of the past two seasons, finishing fifth and sixth.

VanBuskirk, a junior from Midwest City, has been a staple in the Broncho Varsity 8+ as the coxswain for the past two seasons and has been recognized as a second-team All-American. Former Broncho oarswomen to be named to this list include Rachel Kliewer in 2012 and Michaela Stam in 2013, but VanBuskirk is the first coxswain to be named an All-American in school history.

After joining the team as a walk-on during the 2011-2012 season, Amy has served as the coxswain of the top Central Oklahoma crews at major regattas across the country for the past two seasons. VanBuskirk has guided her crews to victories at the San Diego Crew Classic, grand final appearances at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association championships, and appearances at the past two NCAA Division II Championships.

Selection to the Pocock All-American teams is based on strength of schedule, regular season record, end-of-season regatta results, nomination rank, coach's recommendation and 2,000-meter erg scores.

Three Broncho oarswomen were also recognized this week as CRCA National Scholar-Athletes. Sophomore Kalli Schwartz, junior Sam Godfrey, and junior Madison Martens have been acknowledged for their efforts in the classroom during the 2013-2014 season in addition to their contributions on the water.
