EDMOND (April 23) – Dylan Raper went 3-for-5 with two home runs and Central Oklahoma belted six long balls in hammering Southwestern Christian 17-1 Wednesday afternoon at wind-blown Wendell Simmons Field.
The Bronchos burst out to an 11-0 lead after the first inning as Raper started the offense with a leadoff homer. Josh Ingram came up with the bases loaded later in the inning and smacked a grand slam and Dylan Tinkler followed with a solo shot to center.
UCO then put it on cruise control as five pitchers limited the Eagles to just one run on six hits. Zach Wunderlich started the game and allowed just one base runner via walk in his two innings of work to earn the win.
Raper and Sterling led off the third inning with back-to-back solo homers as the Bronchos plated four runs in the inning to go up 15-0.
The Eagles were able to get on the board with Drake Johnson's RBI infield single in the top of the fifth. Ross Rose hit a two-run dinger in the bottom of the inning to provide the final runs. Rose finished the game 3-for-4 with five runs batted in.
UCO plays its final conference series of the season this weekend, hosting Central Missouri with the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association regular season title on the line. The Mules lead the league with a 29-7 record, while the Bronchos are 25-11 and will look to sweep the series to earn a share of the conference crown.
