Bullpen Saves Bronchos

Boxscore

EDMOND, Okla. –
Central Oklahoma rallied for three runs in the sixth inning and defeated Arlington Baptist College, 8-5, on Tuesday afternoon at Wendell Simmons Field.

With the Bronchos trailing 5-4, Ryan Stoup doubled to score Tyler Crabtree and Ross Rose followed with an RBI double to give UCO a 6-5 lead it would not relinquish. Crabtree added a sacrifice fly and Stoup singled home another run for insurance.

The Bronchos improved to 15-1 at home this season and 22-7 overall with their fifth straight win.  UCO resumes Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play Thursday when it hosts Fort Hays State in the opener of a four-game series.

The bullpen was outstanding in relief of starter Dennis Morelli, who lasted 1 2/3 innings. Four pitchers combined to allow just four hits and no runs over the last 7 1/3 innings.

Kylar Trumbla was the first pitcher out of the bullpen and allowed only two hits over 3 1/3 innings. Zach Wunderlich pitched the sixth inning and earned the victory in his first appearance of the season, while Joe Hollowell threw the ninth to notch his first save.

The Bronchos got contributions from just about everybody in the lineup as eight different players had a hit and six different players drove in a run.

Crabtree and Stoup both went 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Dilon Argo went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
