ARLINGTON, Texas (Feb. 18) –
Phillip Wilson collected six hits and Dylan Tinkler drove in five runs to lead Central Oklahoma to a 14-5 bashing of Arlington Baptist here Tuesday night.
 
The unbeaten Bronchos banged out 18 hits – 16 of them singles – and took advantage of 11 walks in moving to 4-0 on the young season for their best start since the 2008 team opened 10-0.
 
Wilson had six singles in his 6-for-7 day at the plate while also scoring with four runs and driving in two.  Tinkler and Cesar Wong also had three hits apiece for the Bronchos.
 
UCO used four pitchers, with Jared Sterling earning the win after giving up just one hit and one run in three innings of relief work.  Starter Joe Hollowell went the first four innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out five.
 
The Bronchos jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on Tinkler's two-run single and Wilson made it 4-0 in the second with a two-RBI base hit.
 
UCO led 6-3 entering the seventh and scored eight runs in the final three innings to break the game open, with Tinkler's three-run double in the seventh the big blow.
 
The Bronchos open Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play this weekend, traveling to Emporia, Kan. to meet Emporia State for a three-game series.
