UCO In OU Invitational This Weekend

Central Oklahoma opens the spring rowing season this weekend on familiar water, facing a variety of Division I teams in the OU Invitational on the Oklahoma River Saturday and Sunday.

The OU Invitational is in its fifth year and this will mark the UCO's second appearance. The regatta is organized in a round-robin format, which will allow the Bronchos the ability to participate in head-to-head duels against numerous teams.

Central came away with wins over Creighton, Oklahoma City and Southern Methodist in last year's event. This season, the Bronchos will race in four events: the Varsity Eight, Varsity Four, Second Varsity Eight, and Novice Four.

UCO will take on Kansas in Saturday's first race. The Novice Four will begin the day's racing at 8:50 a.m. and will also take on a crew from Oklahoma. The Varsity Four will follow at 9:30 a.m., with the Second Varsity Eight and Varsity Eight races at 9:40 a.m. and 9:50 a.m., respectively.

The Bronchos will return to take on Tulsa in afternoon racing. The Varsity Four begins at 3:40 p.m., followed by the Second Varsity Eight at 3:50 p.m. In the Second Varsity Eight race, Central will be taking on two Tulsa crews. The day of racing will conclude with the Varsity Eight race at 4:00 p.m.

Racing on Sunday morning will feature the Bronchos dueling with Kansas State. The Novice Four race begins at 11:30 a.m., followed by the Varsity Four at 11:40 a.m. The Second Varsity Eight starts at 11:50 a.m. and racing closes with the Varsity Eight at 12:00 p.m.

Spectators can access the racecourse via parking near the Exchange Boathouse (1401 S. Exchange Ave.) and walking west along the paved river trail. Alumni and friends are encouraged to come cheer on the Bronchos at the Central Oklahoma tent near the finish line. More information, including live results, can be found here.
