EDMOND (Oct. 6) –
Three goals in a 17-minute span put Central Oklahoma in control and the Bronchos cruised past Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association rival Northwest Missouri 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Tom Thompson Field.

The Bronchos, who scored four second-half goals in Friday's 4-0 win over Missouri Western, continued their offensive surge early en route to picking up a second straight shutout.

UCO improved to 5-5-1 on the season and 2-1-1 in the league, scoring seven goals in two games this weekend after managing just seven in its previous eight outings.

"We got out a great start and really played well offensively the first 35 minutes or so," head coach Mike Cook said.  "We didn't take advantage of some opportunities in the second half, but our defense was strong and we picked up a good win."

Sarah Purcell, who had two goals in Friday's win, put the Bronchos on top just 14:01 into the contest when she took a perfect pass from Emily Precure and knocked in a shot to the left side of the net from close range.

Emily Hahn made it 2-0 nine minutes later with a brilliant shot from the right side to just inside the left post, with Caitlin Bond earning the assist.

Bond completed the scoring in the 32nd minute, taking a cross from Quinn Tookey and booting it in from 10 yards out.

Brandi Bartley went the distance between the posts for UCO, making five saves in her second straight shutout.

The Bronchos outshot NWMSU 17-6, with Tookey, Jordan Hutchison, Miranda Thorne, Emily Precure and Courtney Cox leading UCO's defensive efforts.

Central goes on the road for two conference games next week before returning home Oct. 18 to host defending MIAA champion Central Missouri.
