SAN ANGELO, Texas (May 12) –
An early 3-0 lead wasn't nearly enough for Central Oklahoma here Saturday afternoon as Angelo State rallied past the No. 2-ranked Bronchos 12-3 to force an “if necessary” game in the NCAA Division II South Central Super Regional.

UCO jumped out to a 3-0 first-inning lead and was up 3-2 through four innings before the No. 8 Rambelles erupted for 10 runs in the fifth to take control and claim the run-rule victory that evened the best-of-three series at one apiece.

The deciding game is set to start at approximately 4:30 p.m., with the winner of that contest advancing to next week's Division II World Series.

The Bronchos (43-7) led 3-0 after the first inning, but ASU cut that to 3-2 after four and then ripped a pair of three-run home runs in its 10-run fifth to seize control en route to ending the game early.

UCO broke on top 3-0 in their first at bat, thanks to Kacie Edwards' three-run homer.

Kayce Raines started a one-out rally by reaching on an error and Nathalie Timmermans followed with a single to right field before Edwards – playing as the designated player due to a torn ACL suffered in UCO's regular season finale – parked her 18th homer of the season over the center field fence.

The Bronchos threatened to add to that with back-to-back two-out singles by Brittany Weaver and Hannah Justus,  but ASU avoided additional damage.

UCO used a Weaver-to-Justus-to-Megan Whitmire double play to get out of the first inning before the Rambelles got a run in the third and another in the fourth on a solo homer to trim the lead to 3-2.
