WICHITA, Kan. (April 29) --
Central Oklahoma saw its eight-game winning streak end here Friday night, with Newman using a big eighth inning outburst to hand the Bronchos a 14-9 setback.

UCO led 9-6 entering the bottom of the eighth, but the Jets scored eight runs on five hits, three walks, two errors and a wild pitch to surge in front and the Bronchos couldn't answer back in their final at bat.

The loss dropped UCO to 22-23 and the two teams return for a 1 p.m. doubleheader to wrap up the 2011 season.

"Tonight was not a clean game on our part and that's the bottom line of why we lost," UCO coach Dax Leone said.  "When things went sideways in the eighth, we reverted back to panic mode like we did early in the season.

"It's disappointing because we always tell the guys that the faster the game gets, the more we slow it down.  Hopefully we can bounce back tomorrow and end the season on the right note."

The Bronchos finished with 15 hits in the contest, getting a 4-for-5, three-RBI night from Tyler HancockTucker Brown went 3-for-6 at the plate with three runs scored, while Ryan Schoonover, Keegan Morrow and Kevin Blue had two hits apiece.

UCO broke a 4-4 tie with two runs in the fifth, saw Newman get a run back in the seventh and then went on top 9-6 with three runs in the top of the eighth.

Brown followed Austin Rycroft's pinch-hit lead-off triple with an RBI double to get that inning started and then scored on an error after stealing third.  Schoonover added a run-scoring double to push the lead to three, but the Jets responded with their big outburst to take the win.
