SAN ANTONIO, Texas (April 20) – Erica Bensch fired an even-par 72 to lead Central Oklahoma as the Bronchos finished fifth in the Lone Star Conference Women's Golf Championships that wrapped up a three-day run here Wednesday.

The Bronchos shot a final-round 303 and ended up with a 916 total in the 54-hole tournament at the par-71 Republic Golf Club. Tarleton State won its fourth straight league title at 866, 29 shots ahead of runner-up Midwestern State.

Incarnate Word was third in the 12-team field at 897, followed by Northeastern State (905) and the Bronchos.

“We didn't have near the tournament we wanted to and that's disappointing,” UCO coach Michael Bond said. “We just never seemed to get anything going and made too many mistakes that cost us too many strokes all three days.”

The Bronchos also got a 76 from Chaney Uhles in the final round, while Taylor Neidy shot 77, Mychael McWhorter 78 and Emily Leahey 81.

Bensch bogeyed four of her last six holes on the front nine to make the turn at three-over 38, but rebounded strong on the back with an impressive two-under 34. The Broken Arrow junior had four birdies against two bogeys and three pars on the back nine in finishing with her 73.

Uhles went out in one-over 36 before struggling to a back-nine 40 and ended up tied with Bensch for 16th in the final individual standings.
