DURANT, Okla. (March 26) --
More hits didn't equate to more runs for Central Oklahoma here Saturday as the Bronchos dropped a Lone Star Conference doubleheader to Southeastern Oklahoma.

UCO outhit the Savage Storm in both games and still fell short, dropping a tough 2-1 decision in the opener despite a 9-3 hit advantage and losing the nightcap 8-5 while holding SOSU to just five hits.

"Today was two really hard-fought games by both teams," head coach Dax Leone said. "They got the big hit and we didn't and that was the difference in them winning the series. I was really proud of the way our guys competed today, especially after yesterday's embarrassing showing."

Uriah Fisher had a brilliant outing on the mound in the first game, going the distance and taking the tough-luck loss. He gave up just three hits and one earned run while striking out nine and walking two.

The Bronchos scored in their initial at bat when Tucker Brown walked, went to third on Keegan Morrow's single and scored on Derik Grimes' base hit to left-center.

SOSU came back to tie it in the bottom of the first and got what turned out to be the game-winning run in the third thanks to a pair of errors.

UCO twice left two runners on base, including in the fourth after a double by Ryan Schoonover and single by Brown put runners at second and third with no outs.

Brown, Morrow and Grimes all had two hits apiece for the Bronchos.

UCO fell into an 8-0 hole after just two innings of the second game and couldn't quite recover. The Savage storm scored those eight runs on just four hits, taking advantage of four walks, three hit batters, two errors, two wild pitches and a balk to take the big lead.

The Bronchos scored five runs in the fourth and fifth innings to get back in the game. Brown and Arrow Cunningham had run-scoring singles in the fourth, with Schoonover belting a two-run homer and Morrow a solo shot in the fifth to make it 8-5, but SOSU held on.

Jake Tuck had a superb outing in the relief to give UCO a chance, coming on after SOSU had taken its 8-0 lead and shutting the Savage Storm out the final seven innings while giving up just one hit and one walk.

The Bronchos return to action Monday, hosting St. Cloud State at 12:30 p.m. in a game just added to the schedule.
