UCO FInishes Fourth

Erica Bensch
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Sept. 14) – All five players broke 80 as Central Oklahoma shot a final-round 303 to finish fourth in the season-opening Drury Fall Shootout here Tuesday.

UCO's 303 was the second-low score of the day and the Bronchos finished two trips around the par-71Ledgestone Golf Course with a 623 total.  Nebraska-Omaha shot a closing 291 to finish at 611 and run away with the team title, followed by St. Edward's (620), Dallas Baptist (621) and the Bronchos.

Erica Bensch and Emily Leahey both shot final-round 74s to lead UCO, with Chaney Uhles shooting 77, Taylor Neidy 78 and Raelynn Farthing 79.  Uhles tied for fifth in the individual standings at 152 in her first collegiate tournament, while Bensch tied for seventh and Leahey finished 12th.

“We came out with a purpose today and did a great job of staying focused all day,” UCO coach Michael Bond said.   “Everybody played real solid and we stayed away from the big numbers that really hurt us the first day.”

The Bronchos don't return to action until hosting the UCO Classic Oct. 4-5 at Lincoln Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City.
