DURANT, Okla. (March 27) –
Central Oklahoma used a late rally to pull out a first-game win in earning a Lone Star Conference doubleheader split with Southeastern Oklahoma here Saturday.

The Bronchos overcame a 2-0 deficit in the opener, tying it with two runs in the top of the seventh and then winning it with four in the eighth to pull out a 6-2 victory before SOSU came back to claim a 6-3 win in the nightcap.

UCO (9-16 overall, 7-16 in the LSC) and the Savage Storm (21-10, 17-8) end the four-game series with a single nine-inning contest Sunday afternoon.

SOSU snapped a scoreless tie in the first game with two runs in the bottom of the fifth and that stood up until the top of the seventh when the Bronchos tied it.

Casey Bruns and Kade Kauk opened the inning with consecutive singles before both advanced on Jordan Mullin's sacrifice bunt. John Bryant followed with a single that scored Bruns, with an error on the play allowing Kauk to come across with the tying run.

Kale Murphree put the Savage Storm down in order in the bottom of the seventh and UCO went ahead with a four-run volley in the eighth, using two hits, two walks and an error to take control of the game.

Bases-loaded walks to Mullin and Taylor Brown gave the Bronchos a 4-2 lead, with Ryan Schoonver getting hit by pitch to push across another run before an error pushed UCO's advantage to 6-2.

Murphree then put SOSU down in order in the bottom of the eighth to wrap up a complete-game victory. He gave up just six hits and no walks while striking out four.

Brown, White, Bruns and Kauk had two hits apiece to lead UCO's 11-hit attack.

The Savage Storm broke out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the second game and led 4-1 through four before UCO got within 4-3 on Luke Yost's two-run double in the top of the fifth.

SOSU answered right back with two runs in the bottom of the frame and the Bronchos didn't score again.
