EDMOND (Oct. 31) --
Central Oklahoma got goals from three different players and dominated from start to finish to end the regular season with a 3-0 Lone Star Conference shutout of Eastern New Mexico Sunday afternoon at Tom Thompson Field.

The Bronchos had their best defensive effort of the season in allowing only two shots as the Zias rarely got the ball past midfield.  UCO got off 24 shots and was constantly on the attack, getting goals from Ashton Morris, Summer Grantham and Sherri Collins in winning their eighth straight home game.

"We played well and really took it to them from the start," head coach Mike Cook said.  "It was a good way to end the season and gives us a lot of momentum going into the conference tournament."

The Bronchos improved to 10-7-1 with the win and ended up fifth in the league standings at 6-4-1.  UCO will meet Incarnate Word at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the first round of the LSC Tournament, which will be hosted by Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Morris gave the Bronchos an early lead against ENMU, scoring her fourth goal of the season from inside the penalty area just 7:15 into the contest and the Bronchos took that 1-0 lead into halftime.

UCO wasted little time getting started in the second half, going up 2-0 just three minutes in when Grantham scored over the goalkeeper from 30 feet out after taking a pass from Katy Kashwer

Collins added her third goal of the season six minutes later, receiving a slicing pass through the defense from Lizzie Merritt and knocking in a shot from close range.

That 3-0 lead was more than enough and the Bronchos coasted in with their second shutout of the season.  Jordan Hutchison, Stephanie Fleig and Shayna Kindsvater helped lead the defensive effort for UCO.
