COMMERCE, Texas (Oct. 22) --
Ashton Morris scored her second goal of the game late in regulation to tie it and Samantha Rusk came up with two big saves in the second overtime as Central Oklahoma battled to a 2-2 draw with Texas A&M-Commerce here Friday night.

Morris' goal knotted the game at 2-2 with just 1:10 left to play and neither team could score in the two 10-minute overtime periods, with Rusk making two of her season-high eight saves in the second extra session of the hard-fought Lone Star Conference battle.

"We really played hard and gave ourselves a chance to win the game," UCO coach Mike Cook said.  "I like the way we battled."

The Lions took a 1-0 lead barely 19 minutes into the game and it stayed that way until the 34:58 mark when Morris broke free from a scramble in front of the net and knocked in the rebound off a shot from Brittni Walker.

A&M-C broke that 1-1 deadlock just 54 seconds into the second half and that 2-1 lead looked like it would stand up until Morris -- who had just one goal on the season entering the game -- scored again in the late stages.

The junior took a pass from Dominique Dinka on the right side and rifled in a shot from 18 yards out to the upper left side of net past a diving A&M-C goalkeeper.

The Bronchos managed just one shot in the two overtime periods, but Rusk and the rest of the defense kept the Lions at bay to maintain the tie.

UCO, now 7-7-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the league, returns home Sunday to host Texas Woman's at 1 p.m.
