Bronchos Host Rogers, Pitt State This Weekend

UCO Kicks Off Three-Game Homestand Friday Night

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma hosts Rogers State and No. 6 Pittsburg State in a pair of MIAA matches at Tom Thompson Field this weekend.

UCO is 4-3-1 on the season and has a 1-0-1 mark in the MIAA. Up first is Rogers State Friday at 7 p.m. The Hillcats from Claremore, Oklahoma are 4-1-2 overall this season and have a 2-0-0 record in league play.

The Bronchos welcome unbeaten Pitt State to Edmond for a Sunday afternoon matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Pittsburg State is 8-0-0 overall and plays at Northeastern State on Friday night.

Central Oklahoma enters this weekend outscoring opponents 12-8 through eight matches played. The Bronchos average 1.5 goals per game off 16.6 shots per game and put 45.9 percent (65 of 133) of shots on goal.

Defensively, the Bronchos concede an even 1.0 goal per game and have held opponents to 67 total shots, 8.4 per game, through eight matches played. Teams have put 41.8 percent (28 of 67) of shots on goal against the Bronchos.

Sami Allen leads UCO with seven points coming from two goals scored and a team-high three assists. Allen is one of three players with two goals on the season. Caleah Carter and Sophia Gaskins also have netted two for the Bronchos.

Kaitlyn Cotton, Jane Lockhart, Emma Nicholas, Addison Guthrie, Dannae Guttierez, and Camila Mujica each have one goal scored. Cotton, Lockhart, and Nicholas all have one assist each as well.

Greta Likens and Sheridan Ross also have one assist each. The Bronchos have assisted on 8 of 12 goals this season.

Allen's 23 shots are a team high, as are her 14 shots on goal. Carter has taken 19 shots and put six on target. Lockhart has taken 13 shots and put five on target.

Maddie Ortwein has played 6 of 8 games in goal for the Bronchos and played the full 90 minutes in each of those starts. She has 17 saves and has six goals allowed. Ortwein has two shutouts on the season. Stella Soderbom started the other two matches for the Bronchos and has two saves and two goals allowed – one in each game. Ortwein is 3-2-1 and Soderbom, 1-1-0.

Rogers State has also scored 12 goals this season in one less game played. The Hillcats have only given up five goals in seven matches. Bella Holland (six) and Khari Carreno (four) lead the offense. Defensively Rogers has three shutouts this season.

This weekend has the first two of a three-game homestand for the Bronchos. UCO has just one match next week, Sunday, Oct. 4 against Emporia State at 1 p.m. at Tom Thompson Field.
