UCO 15th After First Round At Regionals

Bronchos Shoot Highest Score Of Season In Postseason Tournament

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – Central Oklahoma posted a rare 303 on Thursday in the first round of the NCAA Central/Midwest Regional Championships at Katke Golf Club.
 
UCO is in 15th place in the 20-team regional field after the first trip around the 6,967-yard Par 72 course. The Bronchos are 15-over par. Winona State (284) leads the field and Grand Valley State (286) is second. Arkansas Tech and Missouri St. Louis are tied for third at 293 and Central Missouri and Wayne State are tied for fifth at 294.
 
Bryant Polhill made his long-awaited return to the course and with teammate Nick Canales leads the Bronchos. Both shot a 2-over-par 74 on Thursday. Polhill, who hasn't played since October, sank three birdies on the front nine and was 1-under making the turn. Canales had four birdies on the day, two on the front and two on the back.
 
Baylor Bostick shot a 4-over 76 with three birdies and an eagle on the Par 5 seventh. Rhett Hughes is 7-over after one round. He only had one birdie but also eagled No. 7. Karsten Paciotti is also in the lineup and shot a 9-over-par 81 with one birdie, on No. 18.
 
Central Oklahoma shot its highest round of the season on Thursday. The Bronchos have only once hit 300 this season prior to the first round at regionals. UCO tees off first thing Friday morning as it will try to climb back into contention over the final 36 holes in hopes of advancing to nationals.
