Four Central Golfers Earn All-Region Honors

Nick Canales, Baylor Bostick, Rhett Hughes, Bryant Polhill Garner Postseason Accolades

NORMAN, Okla. – Central Oklahoma had four players named to the NCAA Division II PING All-Region team, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Tuesday.

Nick Canales, Baylor Bostick, Rhett Hughes, and Bryant Polhill each earned a spot on the Central Region All-Region squad.

The quartet led Central Oklahoma to another stellar season that included the best team scoring average in school history. The Bronchos won six tournaments including the MIAA Championship.

Canales boasted a 71.2 scoring average this season with one win at the season-opening event The Mule. Canales recorded 19 rounds of par or better, more than half of his 35 rounds played this season.

Bostick won two events, the MSSU Fall Invitational and The MIAA Championship in April. He recorded a 72.1 scoring average and also had 19 rounds of par or better in 35 rounds played this season.

Hughes played in 11 of 12 events, 33 total rounds, and put together a 72.6 scoring average for the year. He had 18 rounds of par or better and also won one tournament, the Firekeeper Invitational in April. He finished runner-up at the Tommy Riggs Collegiate one week earlier.

Polhill played in five fall tournaments before an injury sidelined him for nearly the entire spring. He returned for the NCAA Central/Midwest Regional Championships for a sixth event on the year. Polhill recorded a 71.1 scoring average with 10 of 18 rounds at par or better. He finished second behind Bostick in the MSSU Fall Invitational.

Canales is a three-time All-Region pick, each of his three years of collegiate golf. Bostick is now a two-time pick.
