UCO Returns To Regionals In Missouri

Bronchos Continue Postseason May 4-6 At St. Joseph Country Club

INDIANAPOLIS – Central Oklahoma is officially headed to the NCAA Central Regional Championships May 4-6 as the NCAA announced its 72-team, 24-individuals field for regionals on Sunday afternoon.
 
The four regions will compete at four sites in a 54-hole tournament. UCO is the No. 7 team in the 18-team Central Region. Arkansas Tech, Rogers State, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Washburn, Central Missouri, and Arkansas Fort Smith are the top six teams ahead of UCO. Henderson State, Nebraska Kearney, Harding, Minnesota State, Northwest Missouri, Missouri Western, Wayne State, Missouri Southern, Winona State, Concordia St. Paul, and Augustana are also regional qualifiers.
 
Oklahoma Baptist, Northeastern State, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Southern Nazarene, Southern Arkansas, and Northwestern Oklahoma State are all sending individual qualifiers.
 
In 10 tournaments this season, 26 rounds of golf, Central Oklahoma has a 306.9 scoring average. The Bronchos have finished runner-up in two tournaments and third in two other tournaments. UCO also has two fourth place finishes this season.
 
Freshman Grace Hall (74.6) leads the Bronchos in scoring average this season. Sophomore Layne Ailshie (75.8) is second while juniors Estela Castillo (76.5), Scarlet Sturch (77.0) and MaKaylee Cowan (77.3) make up the five-person lineup UCO has used all season.
 
UCO is looking to return to nationals as a team for the first time since 2015. The Bronchos last individual qualifier was 2022. The top five teams from the regional and the top two individuals not on an advancing team will move on to the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships May 12-16 at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
