Bronchos Finish Seventh At MIAA Championships

Central Oklahoma Continues Postseason With Regionals In Two Weeks

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Central Oklahoma wrapped up the 2026 MIAA Women's Golf Championships at Mules National Wednesday in seventh place in the postseason tournament.
 
UCO finished the 54-hole tournament with a 946, posting rounds of 308, 327, and 311 this week. Nebraska Kearney won the team title with a 907 (306-303-298). Washburn (909), Rogers State (923), host Central Missouri (929), and Arkansas Fort Smith (932) rounded out the top five teams. 
 
MaKaylee Cowan and Grace Hall led Central Oklahoma this week with both shooting 25-over-par 235s. Estela Castillo was five shots back with a 30-over-par 240. Scarlet Sturch finished with a 243 and Layne Ailshie shot a 244.
 
Cowan finished with a 235 shooting rounds of 76, 77, and 82. She shot a 43 on the front nine and a 39 on the back nine on Wednesday. She sank six par putts on the day, including on her final hole on the Par 3 18th.
 
Hall's 235 came via rounds of 76, 81, and 78. In Wednesday's final round, the freshman shot a 38 on the front nine and a 40 on the back nine. She made 11 par putts on the day and also finished with a par on No. 18.
 
Castillo had her best round of the week on Wednesday. The junior finished at 240 with rounds of 80, 82, and 78. Castillo made 10 par putts on Wednesday, five in a row from No. 7 to No. 12, and then each of the final four holes.
 
Sturch went 78, 87, 78 this week for a 243. The junior had two birdies on Wednesday with eight more pars. She shot 39 on both the front and back nines at Mules National.
 
Ailshie shot rounds of 78, 89, and 77 this week. Her final round had one birdie on the Par 5 10th, and nine pars, including five in a row from No. 12 to No. 16 on the back nine.
 
Central Oklahoma now moves on to the NCAA Central Region Championships May 4-6 in St. Joseph, Missouri. The Bronchos played the Regional Preview at St. Joseph Country Club in October and finished third as a team, with Hall earning a third-place finish individually.
 
The top five teams at regionals advance to nationals. The NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships are scheduled for May 12-16 in Palm Beach, Florida at PGA National.
