UCO Tees Off In MIAA Championships Monday In Missouri

Bronchos Aim To Repeat At Jefferson City County Club

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma begins the postseason Monday morning in the 2026 MIAA Men's Golf Championships at Jefferson City Country Club.
 
UCO is in the first wave of tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. By 9:10 a.m., all five Bronchos will be on the course. Nick Canales, Baylor Bostick, Ty Hyatt, Rhett Hughes, and Karsten Paciotti make up the lineup that aims to win Central a second consecutive MIAA title. UCO also has Andrew Talburt available as a sub this week in Jefferson City.
 
"We're ready to get going," UCO head men's golf coach Derrick Thompson said. "We've been playing well the last few weeks and we're hopeful to continue that here this week. It will definitely be a challenge. Everybody is playing for something now and we think it's going to be a great tournament."
 
The MIAA has 11 programs competing for this season's championship. UCO is the highest rated at No. 6 in the latest Scoreboard by Clippd rankings. Central Missouri is 30th and Washburn 41st. Those three schools make up the early pairings on Monday.
 
Paciotti tees off first for Central. The senior from Katy, Texas has played in all 10 tournaments this season for the Bronchos and in 29 rounds, has a 72.0 scoring average. Paciotti has six rounds in the 60s this season with a low of 65. He has a team-best 17 rounds of par or better.
 
Hughes is second off the tee at 8:20 a.m. and the sophomore from Edmond has been on fire this spring. He won MIAA Men's Golfer of the Week each of the past two weeks, finishing second and first in the most recent tournaments. Hughes has a 72.5 scoring average through 27 rounds of golf, nine tourneys, with seven rounds in the 60s and 14 par or better scores this season.
 
Hyatt has come on this Spring and has played in six total tournaments. In 17 rounds of golf, the sophomore from Stillwater has a 74.7 scoring average, two rounds in the 60s and four par or better scores. His low this season is a 67.
 
Bostick and Canales, both juniors, anchor the Broncho lineup.
 
Bostick is a two-time All-MIAA pick and an honorable mention All-American averaging a 72.1 this season. He has 16 par or better rounds in 29 total rounds played, a low of 64 with seven rounds in the 60s, and he has one win on the season. Canales also has one win this season and the two-time All-American has a 71.1 scoring average in 29 rounds of golf this year. He also has 16 rounds of par or better with a school record 62 on the books.
 
Canales won UCM's season-opening Mule in September, Bostick won the MSSU Invite in October, and Hughes won Washburn's Firekeeper Open last week. UCO won team titles at The Mule, the NSU Classic, and the MSSU Invite in the fall season before winning Pittsburg State and Washburn's tournaments in the spring.
 
Central Oklahoma is the No.1 ranked team in the Central Region and will compete for the NCAA Central/Midwest Region Championships May 7-9 in Big Rapids, Michigan. UCO is aiming for its third consecutive regional title. The Division II Men's Golf National Championships are scheduled for May 18-22 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
