Central Is Seventh In Houston

Bronchos Return To Competition In Texas

HOUSTON – No. 3 Central Oklahoma is in seventh place after two trips around the Golf Club of Houston Monday in Southern Nazarene's Houston Classic.
 
The return to competition for the spring semester, UCO shot rounds of 297 and 291 on Monday. Karsten Paciotti led the Bronchos and is in sixth place individually. The senior from Katy, Texas started with a 2-under 70 and posted a 1-under 71 in the second round. His 3-under 141 is eight shots back of the leader, Bryant Hiskey II, from local Division I program Houston.
 
Dallas Baptist leads the team standings after 36 holes. The Patriots posted a 564 (281-283) and are the only team under par. Midwestern State (579), Missouri – St. Louis (580), Harding (580), and Cameron (586) and Arkansas – Fort Smith (586) are in the top five ahead of the Bronchos.
 
Nick Canales shot a 147 (73-74), Baylor Bostick shot a 149 (78-71), Ty Hyatt shot a 151 (76-75), and Rhett Hughes shot a 158 (79-79). Brock Jerman is playing as an individual and also shot a 147 (75-72) to join Canales in a tie for 21st.
 
Paciotti started his day on No. 2 and opened with back-to-back pars. He sank birdies on No. 4 and No. 8 and had six other par putts on the front nine. He also had six birdies on the back nine, a birdie on No. 15, and bogeys on No. 11 and No. 18. Paciotti finished the first round with a birdie on No. 1 for a 33-37 in the first round.
 
In the afternoon he fought through a double on No. 3 and a bogey on No. 5 with birdies on 4, 5, and 8. He played the back nine even with a birdie on No. 13 and seven par putts. He birdied No. 1 for the second time on the day and finished his second round with a 35-36.
 
Canales sank two birdies to counter three back-nine bogeys in the first round. He sank 13 par putts in the opening round. In the afternoon, he made two more birdie putts and 13 more par putts but also had two bogeys and one double.
 
Bostick started slow and was 5-over after three holes. He sank a birdie putt on No. 4 and parred the next six before another snag on the back nine. He doubled No. 11, bogeyed No. 12, and then settled in again with five pars and a birdie to finish the first round at 78. Bostick had bogeys on No. 1 and No. 2 in the second round, then played the rest of the front nine 1-under. He played the back nine 2-under with three birdie putts to finish with a 1-under 71.
 
Hyatt made two birdie putts in the first round and five more in the second round. Hughes made one birdie in the morning round. Jerman had three birdies in the morning and two more in the afternoon.
 
Central Oklahoma will tee off Tuesday morning for the third and final round of the 2026 opener at 8 a.m. UCO is playing five spring tournaments and will be back on the course in Rogers, Arkansas March 2-3.
