Braxton Jones, Drake Lee Earn MIAA Baseball Honors

Central Oklahoma Has MIAA Hitter & Pitcher of the Week After 4-0 Stretch

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The MIAA announced its Baseball Athletes of the Week Monday and a pair of Central Oklahoma standouts earned honors.
 
Drake Lee was named MIAA Hitter of the Week and Braxton Jones was named MIAA co-Pitcher of the Week.
 
"That's awesome for both of them," first-year head baseball coach Robbie Rea said. "Drake came up big for us on a few different occasions this week and Braxton was really big for us in getting our series off to a good start. We're happy for both of them."
 
Jones got UCO's weekend non-conference series against Colorado Christian started in a big way, throwing six shutout innings on Friday afternoon. He struck out 10 batters in the Game 1 win. Jones allowed three hits and only one walk as his bullpen completed the shutout behind him.
 
In two starts this season, Jones has 19 strikeouts in 10 innings of work.
 
Lee led Central Oklahoma at the plate this week, going 6-for-10 with two home runs and five RBIs. The senior utility player scored four runs on the weekend. He went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run in Friday's Game 2 win, was 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored on Saturday afternoon, and to wrap up the four-game sweep, Lee went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored on Sunday.
 
Lee is hitting .444 at the plate this season. He is 8-for-18 with six RBIs, four runs scored, and two home runs.
 
Central Oklahoma plays at Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday afternoon. The Bronchos beat OBU Feb. 3 in Edmond in the 2026 season opener.
 
UCO is 7-2 this season and winners of five in a row. The Bison are 3-5 on the year.
 
Central will be home again this weekend, welcoming Drury (4-0) to Edmond for a three-game series beginning Friday afternoon.
