Lee Leads Bronchos At Pitt State Invite

Central Oklahoma Has Handful Of Top 10 Performances At Pittsburg State Invitational Saturday

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Central Oklahoma earned a handful of top 10 performances Saturday at the Pittsburg State Invitational at Robert W. Plaster Center.

Central's 4x400-meter relay team of McKenna Huston, Gabija Pukstas, Reta Ojene, and Deriayah Lee finished eight with a time of 4:02.86. It's the second fastest time for the Bronchos in the event this season.

A pair of freshmen earned Top 10 finishes on Saturday. Charis Phillips finished ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.12 meters, also the second best on the season for the freshman from Arlington, Texas. Pukstas finished 10th in the mile. Her 5:09.86 time is a season best for UCO and for the freshman from Stillwater.

Central's top performance of the day came in the 600-yard race. A junior from Muskogee, Oklahoma and a third-year UCO veteran, Lee finished third (1:28.96). Saturday is the second time she has competed in the event.

Zakeirah Johnson led Central Oklahoma in the 60-meter. She finished 14th in prelims with a time of 7.76 seconds. She was also Central's top finisher in the 200m (25.90, 22nd place). Huston led UCO in the 400m. She also finished 22nd with a time of 59.71 seconds, a top mark for the Bronchos this season.

Central Oklahoma is going back to Pittsburg for the Russ Jewett Indoor Classic Feb. 13-14. The Bronchos will be in southeast Kansas for a third time for the MIAA Indoor Championships Feb. 27-March 1.
