Pukstas Leads UCO Again In Stillwater

Central Oklahoma Finishes 19th At Oklahoma State's Cowboy Jamboree

STILLWATER, Okla. – Central Oklahoma wrapped up its third race of the season early Friday morning as the Bronchos finished 19th at Oklahoma State's Cowboy Jamboree.

UCO ran its first 6k race of the season Friday. Gabija Pukstas led the team once again, finishing The Greiner Family Oklahoma State Cross Country Course in 25:09.

The race featured the No. 1 rated team in Division I, BYU, which took the team title. No. 13 Oklahoma State finished second on its home course. No. 3 New Mexico was third and Kentucky and SMU rounded out the top five teams. Fort Hays State, ranked No. 23 in Division II, was the high DII finisher at 10th in the team points race. Top-ranked JUCO Odessa College finished ninth as the highest non-DI team.

Seniors Genevieve Young and Kylee Smith were seconds apart and second and third to finish for the Bronchos. Young ran the 6k in 26:59 while Smith finished in 27:02.

A trio of freshman rounded out the group for Central Oklahoma. Maya Winterburn completed the race in 27:38, Gianna Weatherspoon finished in 30:02, and Tori McIntosh crossed the finish line in 30:50.

Central Oklahoma has one more race in the regular season, three weeks from now in Texas. The Bronchos are running in the Old Glory Gallup on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 9:15 a.m. in Fort Worth.

The 2025 MIAA Cross Country Championships are scheduled for Oct. 25 in Pittsburg, Kansas and the NCAA Central Region Championships are scheduled for Nov. 8 in Joplin, Missouri.
