Bronchos Run Into Postseason

Central Oklahoma Races Saturday In Pittsburg For MIAA Championships

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Central Oklahoma is ready to run in the postseason with the 2025 MIAA Women's Cross Country Championships Saturday morning.

Pittsburg State is hosting the postseason event at Four Oaks Golf Course. All 13 women's programs in the league will run a 6k at 10 a.m., followed by the 12-team men's 8k at 11 a.m. The top 10 individuals earn First Team All-MIAA honors and runners 11-20 receive Honorable Mention.

Central Oklahoma is sending six runners to compete in the championship. Seniors Kylee Smith and Genevieve Young will be joined by freshmen Tori McIntosh, Gabija Pukstas, Gianna Weatherspoon, and Maya Winterburn.

Pukstas has led the Bronchos in all four races this season. The freshman from Stillwater turned in 5k times of 19:06, 19:09, and 19:36 this season. The Bronchos only ran one 6k and Pukstas finished in 25:09 at Oklahoma State.

Young has been second in each race for the Bronchos this season. She ran 21:35, 21:26, and 20:57 in her three 5ks and turned in a 26:59 in the 6k event in Stillwater.

McIntosh posted 5k times of 23:40 and 22:55 earlier this season but did not run in Dallas. She ran a 30:50 in her only 6k of the season. Smith ran 5k times of 23:41, 21:52, and 22:05 with a 6k time of 27:02.

Weatherspoon had near identical 5k times to start her career, finishing in 22:37 and 22:41. She ran in 23:28 most recently. Her 6k time was 30:02. Winterburn had 5k times of 21:53, 22:22, and 22:28 with a 6k time of 27:38.

Central Oklahoma will run in the MIAA Championships Saturday in Pittsburg. The Bronchos will then prepare for the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships Nov. 8 in Joplin, Missouri.
