UCO Races At OSU Friday

Bronchos Running In Cowboy Jamboree In Stillwater Friday Morning

STILLWATER, Okla. – Central Oklahoma continues cross country season this week with a Friday morning race at Oklahoma State with the Cowboy Jamboree at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course.

The 6k race is scheduled to begin at 8:15 a.m.

Stillwater's own Gabija Pukstas, a freshman for the Bronchos, has led the team through the first two races of the season. Both were 5k events. She ran a 19:06 in Tulsa and a 19:09 in Joplin, Missouri, crossing the finish line first among UCO runners in both races.

Three other runners lowered their times from the first to the second race this season. Senior Genevieve Young went from 21:35 to 21:26 in her two 5ks. Senior Kylee Smith went from 23:41 to 21:52 in her two races. And freshman Tori McIntosh went from a 23:40 to a 22:55 in her first two career events.

Another freshman, Gianna Weatherspoon, didn't beat her time in her second career race but only missed that by four seconds. She ran a 22:37 and then followed up with a 22:41 in Joplin. Maya Winterburg, a fourth freshman in the lineup, ran a 21:53 and a 22:22 in her first two races.

Central Oklahoma will compete for the third time in four weeks Friday in Stillwater. The Bronchos will next race in two weeks at Dallas Baptist's Old Glory Gallup in Fort Worth, Texas.

The 2025 MIAA Cross Country Championships are scheduled for Oct. 25 in Pittsburg, Kansas. The NCAA Central Region Championships are scheduled for Nov. 8 in Joplin, Missouri.
