Bronchos, Hall Finish 10th In Texas

Central Oklahoma Freshman Leads UCO With 10th Place Individual Finish

CORINTH, Texas – Central Oklahoma wrapped up its first tournament of the season with a 10th-place finish in the DBU Classic at Oakmont Country Club.
 
Central Oklahoma shot back-to-back 298s this week to finished with a 596 (+20). Host Dallas Baptist, the 2025 NCAA DII national champions, won the team title with a 10-under-par 566. UT Tyler finished second at 576. Rogers State and Midwestern State tied for third at 583, and Barry rounded out the top five at 584.
 
"This was a tough field to compete against but we played well for our first tournament of the year," UCO head women's golf coach Michael Bond said. "We weren't as consistent as we need to be, but we had a good tournament against some really good teams."
 
The Bronchos were led by freshman Grace Hall, who finished 10th individually with an even-par 144. The Austin, Texas native in her first collegiate tournament shot a 1-under 71 on Monday and a 1-over 73 on Tuesday. Hall started her round with a bogey on No. 10 but was 1-under at the turn after birdies on No. 15 and No. 18. Hall was 2-under after a third birdie on No. 3 but ended the day 1-over after three bogeys and three pars on her final six holes.
 
MaKaylee Cowan shot a 151, shaving three strokes off her score in the second round. After a 5-over 77 on Monday, Cowan shot 74 on Tuesday to climb up the leaderboard. She got off to a hot start, sinking three birdies in four holes on the back nine.
 
Estela Castillo was one back at 152, shooting a 4-over-par 76 in both rounds. The junior sank 15 par putts on Monday and 12 more on Tuesday. She made one birdie this week on the Par 4 No. 1in Tuesday's second round.
 
Layne Ailshie also shot a 152 this week, starting with a 2-over 74 on Monday before a 6-over 78 on Tuesday. The sophomore had two birdies on Tuesday and finished the tournament sinking seven birdie putts.
 
Scarlett Sturch finished the tournament with a 14-over-par 158. She responded from a tougher first round Monday with a 3-over-par 75 on Tuesday, including one birdie on the Par 3 17th.
 
Central Oklahoma's fall schedule is off and running with the season-opening Dallas Baptist Classic. The Bronchos are hosting the annual Grace Shin Invite at the Golf Club of Edmond Oct. 6-7 and will play two tournaments in Missouri later in October.
