Bronchos Ranked 7th In Preseason National Poll

UCO Opens 2025 Campaign Next Week in Texas

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Defending Central Region champion Central Oklahoma came in at No. 7 in the preseason American Volleyball Coaches Association poll Division II poll that was released Wednesday.

The Bronchos of 13th-year head coach Edgar Miraku earned 810 points in voting of 48 coaches from around the country. Reigning national champion Lynn topped the poll, with Angelo State, St. Cloud State, Ferris State and San Francisco State rounding out the top five.

UCO beat St. Cloud in last year's Central Regional finals in advancing to the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship before falling to SFSU in the quarterfinals. The Bronchos won a school-record 33 matches in finishing 33-3.

Central opens the season Sept. 4-6 with four matches at the Patriot Classic in Tyler, Texas, including a Saturday morning showdown with No. 4 Ferris State. The Bronchos will also face the host Patriots, who were among the teams receiving votes in the preseason poll.

Two other MIAA teams made the top 25, with Nebraska-Kearney coming in at No. 12 and Washburn at No. 22, while Missouri Western was among the teams who received votes.
