Pete Komada Named ITA All-American

Central Oklahoma Junior Is 25th All-American In UCO Tennis History

TEMPE, Ariz. – Central Oklahoma junior Pete Komada was named All-American by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, earning the honor for Singles play this past season.
 
Komada, from Nagoya, Japan, is UCO's 25th All-American (the 14th player).
 
"So proud of Pete," UCO head women's tennis coach Joe Vann said. "She does such a great job for us showing up every day and doing her best. She's a great example and deserves to be recognized."
 
Komada went 14-4 this season with a 6-3 record in the MIAA. She was First Team All-MIAA this season after earning Second Team honors a year ago and honorable mention as a freshman, when she also earned ITA Central Region Freshman of the Year.
 
She led Central Oklahoma to an MIAA Championship this season. UCO earned the No. 4 seed in the league's postseason championship and then won the tournament with three wins in three days. The Bronchos were then awarded an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship Central Regional.
