UCO Beats Bearcats Twice Friday To Win Series

Central Oklahoma Wins 7-2 In Both Games

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma snapped a rare losing streak with a doubleheader sweep of Northwest Missouri Friday afternoon, winning 7-2 in both games.

The Bronchos are now 31-13 on the season following the two victories, and 21-11 in the MIAA. UCO won the series with Northwest, 2-1.

"Glad to be back in the win column, the guys did good all around today," UCO head baseball coach John Martin said. "Our pitching was solid, we hit well and moved guys around the bases. Sometimes you just get in a slump and all you can do is keep working at it and trust yourself. It was a good day for us overall."

Central Oklahoma got a strong start from Danny Satterlee in Game 2 of the series, Game 1 Friday, with the right-handed starter throwing six innings of one run baseball. He gave up five hits and two walks but also struck out five batters.

Chase Yarger and Brody Berlowitz both made appearances out of the bullpen before Valek Cisneros came on to get the final two outs. He earned a save, his 10th of the season, coming on with the bases loaded in the ninth. Yarger and Berlowitz both struck out one batter and Cisneros retired both of his opponents via a strikeout.

UCO led 6-0 after three innings on Friday. Orlando Gonzalez and Ty Hammack both had RBIs in the first inning and Joe Ricchio added one in the third. Hammack followed him with a three-run home run to center field to give UCO a 6-0 lead.

Gonzalez also homered in the seventh to make it the final, 7-2.

Dax Sharp picked up the win in Game 3, Game 2 on Friday, with a five-inning outing. The lefty starter allowed two runs, one earned, on seven hits and a walk and struck out five batters.

Trent Gerber and Tristan Wittau both threw one inning of relief work. Both allowed one hit. Gerber struck out two batters. Caleb Burchfield threw the final two innings and retired six in order.

UCO didn't hit the ball well in the finale Friday evening. The Bronchos scored four runs on two hits in the first, added one more run without a hit in the sixth, and then got the final two runs on one hit in the seventh. Central finished the game with just three hits.

Ricchio scored Grant Randall with a sacrifice fly in the first. Ty Chapman scored on a throwing error. Hammack scored Caden Robertson with an RBI triple and then he scored himself on a wild pitch to make it 4-0.

Chapman scored Aiden Proctor with a sac-fly in the sixth and Davan Brady hit a two-run home run to make it 7-2 in the seventh inning.

Central Oklahoma heads into a single-game week with just two weeks left in the regular season. The Bronchos host Northeastern State Wednesday at 3 p.m. before taking next weekend off. UCO will visit Oklahoma Baptist for a midweek non-conference game before wrapping up the 2025 regular season with a three-game MIAA series against Missouri Western in Edmond May 1-3.
