Terin Ritz Sweeps MIAA Awards

Central Oklahoma's Senior All-American Named Both MIAA Hitter & Pitcher of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Terin Ritz led No. 5 Central Oklahoma to a perfect 4-0 week on the softball field, sweeping both Nebraska Kearney and Fort Hays State in MIAA doubleheaders, and Monday, the senior All-American swept the league's weekly honors as well.

Ritz was named both MIAA Pitcher of the Week and MIAA Hitter of the Week for Week 11, the league announced.

"That's awesome for Terin," UCO head softball coach Cody White said. "She brings so much to the team before we even play a game and obviously her game is really good too. It's great having a player like her on your team. She helped us in a big way this past week."

In doubleheader sweeps of Nebraska-Kearney and Fort Hays State, Ritz batted an astounding .727 with a phenomenal 2.000 slugging percentage. She had eight hits in 11 at bats with four home runs (one in each game), two doubles, six RBIs and seven runs scored.

The senior standout went 3-for-5 with two homers, a double, two RBIs and two runs against UNK, then was 5-for-6 with two homers, a double, four RBIs and five runs against FHSU.

UCO went 4-0 last week with doubleheader sweeps of Nebraska-Kearney and Fort Hays State and Ritz earned three of those wins in the circle. For the week, she was 3-0 with an 0.58 ERA in 12 innings. The senior right-hander gave up nine hits, one run, and three walks while striking out 13 batters.

Ritz earned both wins against UNK. She gave up three hits in four innings with four strikeouts in an 11-0 first-game rout, then came on throw a shutout seventh inning in the second game that UCO won in walk-off fashion. Ritz tossed a complete-game five-hitter with eight strikeouts in a 3-1 first-game win over FHSU.

Central Oklahoma is 37-6 this season and riding a 10-game winning streak. The Bronchos are 16-2 in the MIAA, good for first place in the league standings. UCO breaks from conference play Tuesday for a doubleheader against Southern Nazarene.

The Bronchos then have three MIAA road doubleheaders to end the season. UCO visits Washburn and Central Missouri this weekend before a trip to Newman next weekend.

The 2025 MIAA Softball Championship is scheduled for April 30 – May 4 in Hays, Kansas.
