Bronchos Are Seventh After First Round At MIAAs

KEARNEY, Neb. – Central Oklahoma is in seventh place after Sunday's first round of the 2025 MIAA Women's Golf Championships.

UCO posted a 36-over-par 320 after its first trip around Meadowlark Golf Club. Rogers State leads the team standings with a 26-over-par 310. Central Missouri (311), Missouri Southern (313), Arkansas Fort Smith (315) and Washburn (317) make up the top five. Northwest Missouri (319) is also in front of the Bronchos after one round of play.

Estela Castillo and Jirasuda Khunarak both carded 8-over 79s on Sunday and the duo are tied for 16th place individually. Castillo sank one birdie putt on the Par 5 sixth and Khunarak had one on the Par 4 fourth.

MaKaylee Cowan is one shot back in 24th place after a 9-over 80 on Sunday. The sophomore made nine pars and nine bogeys in the first round. Freshman Layne Ailshie is 32nd individually and two shots back of Cowan. Ailshie posted an 11-over-par 82.

Scarlet Sturch shot an 84. Josey Cavitt is also competing and was outside the team lineup on Sunday. She carded an 11-over 82 and can be subbed into the lineup on Monday.

Round 2 is set for Monday morning. The MIAA individual champion and team champion will be crowned following the third round Tuesday.
