Sophomores Set More School Records

Sai Brookins-Fleming And Deriayah Lee Set School Records At Wichita State

WICHITA, Kan. – Sai Brookins-Fleming and Deriayah Lee set school records Saturday as Central Oklahoma wrapped up the two-day KT Woodman Classic at Wichita State.

The sophomores have been part of a handful of records already in less than two years of competition and Saturday was another day to update the record books. Brookins-Fleming finished sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.75 seconds, breaking one of UCO's oldest records set in 1997. Lee also set a school record in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing fifth with a time of 1:01.93 to break the UCO record set in 1998.

Brookins-Fleming led four Bronchos in the 100. Kerrigan Huynh finished 19th in 12.09 seconds. Mikayla Stephenson (12.69) and Mattison Thetford (13.72) also ran.

Lee also competed in the 100-meter hurdles and finished 11th in 14.60 seconds.

Genevieve Young and Stephenson competed in the 200m, with Young finishing 32nd in 25.68 seconds and Stephenson logging a 26.06-second time.

Four Bronchos ran the 400m. Young led the way in 58.35 seconds, finishing 12th. Reta Ojene (1:02.45), Tyana Hymes (1:03.29) and Maddie Gaxiola (1:05.02) also competed.

Central Oklahoma also had a pair of relay teams compete this weekend. Brookins-Fleming, Huynh, Young, and Lee finished third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:54.16. Ojene, Stephenson, Gaxiola, and Hymes also raced and finished in 4:27.30.

On Friday, UCO's distance crew took on the course in Wichita. Asia Williams ran the 800m and finished in 2:33.54. Ariane Williams (5:41.80) and Kylee Smith (5:44.75) ran in the 1,500m, and Katlin Foster (41:48.13) ran in the 10,000-meter event.

Central Oklahoma heads to Pittsburg State next weekend for the final Outdoor meet before conference next month.
