UCO Has Three Individuals In the Top 10 After First-day Play Was Suspended

HAYS, Kansas – Central Oklahoma is atop the team standings after first-day play in the Fort Hays State Tiger Classic that was suspended early by darkness.

Play was halted midway through the second round of the scheduled 36-hole day that didn't start until 12:30 p.m. because of cold weather. The 18-team tournament will resume early Tuesday morning with the completion of the second round before the final 18 holes get underway.

The Bronchos opened with a one-under-par 271 at the 6,105-yard, par-72 Smoky Hills Country Club and were one-under in the afternoon when play finished. That's good for a 10-shot lead over Colorado State-Pueblo, with host the host Tigers and Central Missouri another two strokes back.

Jordan Wilson led UCO on the first day and was tied for second in the individual race at three-under after having played 26 holes. Baylor Bostick was tied for sixth at one-under and Nick Canales was tied for ninth at even-par.

Bennett Baldwin was at three-over when play stopped, with Karsten Paciotti at six-over. Dylan Henderson was three-over competing as an individual medalist.

Wilson carded five birdies and two bogeys in the first round in his opening-round 67. The senior made two early birdies in the second round to get to five-under on the day before making back-to-back bogeys in dropping back to three-under.

Bostick had five bogeys and a trio of birdies in opening with a 72, then started the second round with two pars before reeling off three straight birdies and was three-under after seven holes.

Canales offset three bogeys with a pair of birdies in starting with a 71. The sophomore parred his first hole in the second round, then made a birdie and five straight pars in getting back to even-par for the tournament.
