Bronchos Finish 11th In Arkansas

FORT SMITH, Ark. – Central Oklahoma wrapped up the Hardscrabble Invitational Tuesday with the third and final trip around Hardscrabble Country Club, where the Bronchos finished 11th in the 17-team tournament.

UCO shaved 21 strokes off its second-round score, finishing with a 308. The Bronchos posted a 54-hole score of 958 (321-329-308).

"It was a tough tournament and we didn't play our best," UCO head women's golf coach Michael Bond said. "But I'm proud of the team for fighting back. We could've done worse today, but we did a lot better and that's something to build off of as we finish up the season."

MaKaylee Cowan finished fourth individually, a career-best for the sophomore from Yukon, Oklahoma. Cowan shot a 7-over-par 77 on Tuesday to finish 15-over for the tournament. She started the day off in second place and birdied the first hole, No. 11. She added another birdie on No. 15. Cowan finished with a 54-hole 225.

Jirasuda Khunarak charged up the leaderboard 10 spots on Tuesday, wrapping up her tournament with a 5-over 75. She finished the 54 holes with a 236 (79-82-75).

Drew Faires finished with a 246 (84-85-77) and Scarlet Sturch finished with a 251 (84-88-79). Estela Castillo, who withdrew from Monday's action with an injury, was able to return on Tuesday. She posted a 9-over 79.

Central Oklahoma has one tournament left in the 2024-25 regular season, two weeks from now in northeast Oklahoma. The Bronchos will play at Shangri-La as part of Central Missouri's Spring Invite.

Following the MIAA Championships in Nebraska later next month, UCO is hosting the 2025 NCAA Division II Central Region Championships at KickingBird Golf Club in May.
