UCO 10th After 36 Holes In Florida

Bronchos Finish Emerald Coast Collegiate Tuesday In Destin

DESTIN, Fla. – Central Oklahoma played 36 holes Monday after a rainy Sunday postponed the first round of the Emerald Coast Collegiate at Baytowne Golf Club and the Bronchos are in 10th place in the team standings.

UCO posted a 36-hole 616. The Bronchos shot a 312 in the first round and lowered its score by eight strokes with a 304 in the second round.

Flagler leads the team standings at 563 (287-276). West Texas (573), West Florida (591), Missouri St. Louis (594), and St. Mary's (597) make up the top five teams. Embry Riddle, Central Missouri, Tiffin, and Drury are also in front of UCO, with Arkansas Fort Smith tied for 10th with the Bronchos.

Scarlet Sturch led Central Oklahoma through the first two rounds and sits 25th on the individual leaderboard. The sophomore from Durant, Oklahoma shot a 36-hole 150, posting a 5-over-par 76 in the morning round before a 3-over 74 in the afternoon. Sturch sank nine par putts and a pair of birdies in the first round before 13 pars and one birdie in the afternoon.

MaKaylee Cowan is four shots back after a 36-hole 154. The sophomore from Yukon, Oklahoma shot a 6-over-par 77 in both rounds. She had also had two birdies in the morning and one more in the afternoon. Cowan made 19 par putts on Monday.

Estela Castillo is just one shot back of Cowan after a 36-hole 155. The sophomore from Spain got there with an 8-over 79 and a 5-over 76. Like Sturch and Cowan, Castillo made two birdies in Round 1 and one more in Round 2.

Jirasuda Khunarak is fourth on UCO's scoring list with a 160 (83-77) and Josey Cavitt also competed for the Bronchos and finished with a 161 (80-81).

Central Oklahoma will wrap up the 54-hole tournament Tuesday with the third and final round.
