Bronchos Visit Southeastern, Host DBU

Central Oklahoma Plays Two Matches In Three Days In Non-Conference Play

DURANT, Okla. – Central Oklahoma returns to the courts Friday with a non-conference road match at Southeastern Oklahoma State. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.

UCO is 4-1 on the season and takes a three-game win streak into Friday afternoon's match. Southeastern is 4-0 this season.

"We've played well the last couple of weeks and we're hoping to keep that up this weekend," UCO head women's tennis coach Joe Vann said. "It's important for us to be consistent and if we can stay at that level, we'll have a chance to win the match."

Central Oklahoma also plays Dallas Baptist this weekend, hosting the Patriots Sunday at 12 p.m. DBU is 6-0 this season and receiving votes in this week's ITA national rankings.

UCO has an 11-3 record in doubles competition through five matches this season. Nefeli Zafeiri and Pete Komada are 3-1 at No. 1 doubles, Anika Ouwejan and Ayaka Koga are 4-1 at No. 2 doubles, and Karyna Yurchenko and Hui Soo are 4-1 at No. 3 doubles.

The Bronchos are a combined 18-10 in singles competition through five matches.

Zafeiri is 1-4 at No. 1, Komada is 4-1 at No. 2, and Ouwejan is 2-3 at No. 3. Koga has an unblemished 5-0 record at No. 4 singles, Soo is 2-1 at No. 5, and Yurchenko is 4-1 at the No. 6 position.

Central Oklahoma is going to have three weeks off following Sunday's match with Dallas Baptist. The Bronchos return March 28-29 at Emporia State and Washburn. UCO will play nine MIAA matches, with one final non-conference dual scheduled against Cameron in late April.
