Bronchos Head To Maryville For Indoor Championships

Central Oklahoma Competing Saturday & Sunday For MIAA Titles

MARYVILLE, Mo. – Central Oklahoma heads to Northwest Missouri State University and Hughes Fieldhouse for the 2025 MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, which begin Friday.

Friday's events are restricted to multis, with the women's pentathlon and the men's heptathlon getting championship weekend started. Saturday finishes off the multis and the remainder of the championship meet gets underway.

UCO has seven student-athletes competing this weekend, with six runners included in the group. Mattison Thetford is competing in the pole vault, which is scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Thetford's season-high is 3.40 meters, set in December at Washburn. Her Indoor PR is 3.64 meters, also in Topeka, at last year's MIAA Championships.

Genevieve Young and Faith Millner are set to run in the 600-yard dash, with prelims scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

Young has run the 600 four times this season and has a PR of 1:26.74 at Pittsburg State two weeks ago. Millner has competed twice in the 600, with times of 1:32 in both races.

Treasure Vallerie and Sai Brookins-Fleming are entered in both the 200- and 400-meter sprints this weekend, with Kerrigan Huynh joining the duo in the 400m. Vallerie's 24:04 mark in the 200m is a PR and school record, set last year at the MIAA Indoor Championships. Her 54.79 in the 400m is a PR and school record, set at the National Championships last March.

Brookins-Fleming's Indoor PR in the 200 came at last year's conference championships, when she ran the race in 25.14 seconds. Her 400 PR (56.77 seconds) was the same weekend. Huynh set a new PR in the 400 two weeks ago at Pitt State, finishing in 57.98 seconds.

Young, Vallerie, Brookins-Fleming, and Huynh are all listed as entered in the 4x400, scheduled for 4:35 p.m. Sunday – the final event of the championships.

Deriayah Lee is also competing in the 60-meter hurdles, with prelims starting Saturday afternoon. Lee has competed in the event 19 times over her first two seasons of collegiate track. Her 8.92 seconds mark earlier this month is a PR.

Central Oklahoma currently does not have anyone that has met an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard yet this season. If the same is true following this weekend's meet, the Bronchos will turn their attention to Outdoor Season, which is scheduled to begin March 21 in Texas.
