Bronchos Walk Past Rockhurst

Jordyn Pipkin Throws Three-hit Shutout In 11-0 Rout

EDMOND – Jordyn Pipkin tossed a three-hit shutout and Central Oklahoma strolled past Rockhurst 11-0 Monday afternoon on the final day of the Raising Cane's Festival at Gerry Pinkston Stadium.

It was the 10th career shutout for Pipkin, who struck out five and didn't walk a batter in earning her first win of the season. The No. 13-ranked Bronchos drew 13 walks and added four hits in ending the game after five innings.

"Jordyn had good command of her pitches and threw well today," head coach Cody White said. "We didn't do a lot offensively, but showed a lot of patience at the plate and took advantage of what they gave us."

UCO improved to 9-2 with its second straight run-rule rout. The Bronchos are slated to play five games in the Washburn Classic this weekend in Topeka, Kan., though winter weather is expected to alter the schedule.

Central scored all its runs in the bottom of the third. The Bronchos paraded 17 batters to the plate in the 38-minute marathon inning, finishing with nine walks and three hits.

Rylee Lemos reached on an error to start the inning, with walks to Rylee Anglen and Kennedy Clark loading the bases. Terin Ritz drove a two-run single to right field, Emily Deramus followed with an RBI single up the middle and Ariah Mitchell's base hit through the right loaded the bases again.

Kya Watson, Brooklyn Ryan, Lemos and Anglen all drew RBI walks to push the lead to 7-0. Clark followed with an RBI fielder's choice and Deramus added a sacrifice fly while Lemos and Clark both scored on wild pitches.

Anglen finished with three walks in the game, with Lemos, Clark, Ritz and Watson drawing two apiece.
