Central Oklahoma Visits Rogers State Saturday

Bronchos Look To Take Season Series With In-State Rival In Claremore

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Central Oklahoma begins a three-game road trip with a trip east of Tulsa for an MIAA matchup with Rogers State.
 
UCO is 6-17 this season, with a 5-9 record in the MIAA. The Bronchos are tied for 10th in the league standings with three weeks left in the season. Rogers State is 7-16 this season and 1-13 in the MIAA.
 
Central Oklahoma has five games left in the regular season, with the next three on the road. The Bronchos play at Washburn and at Central Missouri next weekend before closing with Arkansas Fort Smith and Northeastern State in two weeks.
 
The MIAA Basketball Championship begins March 5 in Kansas City, with 10 teams qualifying for the postseason tournament. UCO was 11th in the first KPI ranking earlier this week. The league is using KPI to determine seeding for the 10-team postseason.
 
UCO and Rogers State played for the first time ever in 2019, when the Hillcats from Claremore joined the MIAA. The Bronchos have won all 11 meetings since then, including a 58-54 decision in Edmond two months ago. The Bronchos are 6-0 in Edmond and 5-0 in Claremore.
 
The Bronchos come into Saturday afternoon's matchup averaging 62.4 points per game this season. UCO shoots 38.8 percent from the floor overall, 28.4 percent from behind the 3-point line, and 67.4 percent from the free-throw line.
 
Defensively, Central Oklahoma gives up 70.7 points per game, with opponents shooting 42.4 percent against the Bronchos. Teams shoot 33.0 percent from behind the 3-point line and 72.7 percent at the free-throw line against UCO.
 
Korie Allensworth continues to lead Central Oklahoma in scoring at 12.9 points per game. The fifth-year senior adds 6.0 rebounds per game. LaKysia Johnson is second on the team in scoring at 12.2 points per game and adds 3.6 boards and a team-best 1.8 steals per game.
 
Jordyn Turner also scores in double figures, averaging 10.8 points per game. The senior forward leads UCO in rebounding at 9.0 boards per game, which is second in the MIAA. Talia Pogi gives UCO four in double figures at 10.7 points per game. The junior guard has a team-high 40 made 3-pointers this season.
 
Peyton Walker joins the four in double figures as part of the starting lineup. The freshman point guard averages 2.6 points per game, 2.2 rebounds per game, 2.1 assists per game, and 1.1 steals per game.
 
That five combine for 46.6 points per game.
 
Karly Wadsworth leads the second unit. The fifth-year senior averages 6.6 points per game and has made 28 3-pointers this season. Wadsworth owns the UCO record for 3-pointers attempted in a game (15), a season (196), and a career (584). She has made 179 career 3-pointers, third-most in school history.
 
Wadsworth trails Olivia Mason (184, 2013-17) by five made 3-pointers, and record holder Ami Guffy (190, 1998-2002) by 11 made 3-pointers.
 
Gracee Miller has been in and out of the lineup battling injuries. The sophomore guard averages 6.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. Alexis Lewis (2.3 PPG) and Parker Simonsen (1.6 PPG) both help in reserve roles. Jacey Crawford (7.0 MPG) and Alexis Martin (3.8 MPG) contribute too.
 
Rogers State is hosting Central Oklahoma Saturday looking to snap a 10-game losing streak. The Hillcats were 6-6 before beating Newman Jan. 2 in Claremore. RSU won that game but has not since.
 
Central Oklahoma travels to Washburn and Central Missouri next weekend before hosting Arkansas Fort Smith and Northeastern State to close out the regular season March 1.
