Lee Leads UCO In Indoor Opener

TOPEKA, Kan. – Deriayah Lee's fifth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdle finals highlighted Central Oklahoma's season-opening day at the Washburn Alumni Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Lee, a junior from Muskogee, Oklahoma, finished seventh in the prelims in 9.05 seconds to qualify for the finals. She then ran an 8.97 for a fifth-place finish.

Lee also ran the 600-yard race and finished 10th with a time of 1:28.33, leading a group of three Bronchos in the event. Faith Millner finished 15th (1:32.95) and Tori McIntosh finished 18th (1:34.97).

Central Oklahoma had four entries in the 60-meter prelims and Zakeirah Johnson led the way with an 11th-place finish in 7.74 seconds. Chyanne Williams finished 34th (8.00), Jaelynne Knighton finished 45th (8.14), and Mikayla Stephenson finished 57th (8.24).

In the 200m, Johnson led the Bronchos again. She finished 15th in 25.61 seconds. Stephenson finished 48th (26.83), McKenna Huston finished 53rd (27.02), Knighton finished 55th (27.15), Williams finished 56th (27.22), Reta Ojene took 58th (27.24), and Maya Conrad finished 64th (27.72).

A trio of those sprinters also ran the 400m and Huston led the way with an 18th-place finish in 1:01.05. Ojene finished 30th (1:02.90) and Conrad finished 33rd (1:03.74).

Charis Phillips was UCO's only field athlete this weekend. She competed in the triple jump and finished ninth with an 11.20-meter jump.
