UCO Heads South For Old Glory Gallup

Bronchos Competing In Dallas Baptist 5k Saturday Morning

FORT WORTH, Texas – Central Oklahoma returns to the race course Saturday morning and will return to a 5k event with Dallas Baptist's Old Glory Gallup.

The race is scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m.

UCO has run in three races this season, including on 6k two weeks ago at Oklahoma State. The Bronchos also competed in Tulsa and Joplin, Missouri in 5k events.

Freshman Gabija Pukstas has led the Bronchos in all three races this season. She finished the 5k events in 19:06 and 19:09 before racing to a 25:09 mark in the 6k at OSU.

Senior Genevieve Young has been second across the finish line for UCO in all three races. She ran 21:35 and 21:26 in the two 5k races and 26:59 in the 6k.

Another senior, Kylee Smith, was sixth on the team in the first race of the year (23:41). Smith was up to third in each of the next two races, running a 21:52 in Joplin and a 27:02 in Stillwater.

A trio of freshmen have competed in each event getting started in their collegiate careers. Maya Winterburn has 5k times of 21:53 and 22:22 and a 6k time of 27:38, Gianna Weatherspoon has 5k times of 22:37 and 22:41 with a 6k time of 30:02, and Tori McIntosh has 5k times of 23:40 and 22:55 with a 6k time of 30:50 through three races this season.

Saturday morning marks the final regular season cross country meet for the Bronchos. UCO will compete in the 2025 MIAA Cross Country Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas on Oct. 25. Central Oklahoma also has the NCAA Central Region Championships Nov. 8 in Joplin, Missouri.
