UCO Finishes Eighth In Nebraska

Central Oklahoma Wraps Up MIAA Preview, Turns To Own Event In Edmond Next Month

KEARNEY, Neb. – Central Oklahoma finished eighth in the MIAA Fall Preview that wrapped up Tuesday at Meadowlark Golf Club, the site of the 2025 MIAA Women's Golf Championships.

The Bronchos posted a 36-hole score of 612, shooting a 306 in both the first and second round. Central Missouri won the team title with a score of 591 (294-297), beating by nine strokes Rogers State, Washburn, and Nebraska Kearney, which all posted 36-hole scores of 600. Missouri Southern rounded out the top five with a 605.

Jirasuda Khunarak and Scarlet Sturch led the Bronchos with top 20 finishes. The senior Khunarak finished 8-over-par for the tournament with rounds of 76 and 74. The sophomore Sturch was one shot back with a 9-over-par 151 (76-75).

Estela Castillo wrapped up the week with a 12-over 154, shooting the third 5-over-par 76 on Monday for the Bronchos before posting a 7-over 78 on Tuesday. Drew Faires rounded out the counting scores for Central with a 160 (78-82) and MaKaylee Cowan was only one shot back of her teammate with a 161 (82-79).

Khunarak and Castillo both sank two birdie putts each on Tuesday in the final round of play. Khunarak did so on the Par-4 11th and the Par-3 17th holes. Castillo did so on the Par-5 second and Par-5 sixth holes. Sturch added one birdie on Tuesday, coming on the Par-3 seventh hole. And Cowan also had one birdie, on the Par-3 fifth hole.

Central Oklahoma has two weeks before its hosts the NCAA Central Region Preview at KickingBird Golf Club in Edmond. UCO is hosting the regional championship in May and will have 30 teams including the Bronchos in the field Oct. 7-8. Central Oklahoma is scheduled to wrap up the fall season Oct. 14-15 at the Midwest Classic, hosted by Northwest Missouri at Mozingo Lake Golf Course in Maryville, Mo.
