Bronchos Run In Joplin

JOPLIN, Mo. – Central Oklahoma's cross country team got back to racing Friday evening and earned a 15th-place finish at the annual Southern Stampede hosted at Tom Rutledge Course at Missouri Southern State University.

Rogers State won the team title with 62 points ahead of Pittsburg State's 90 points. Host MSSU finished third with 111 team points. Arkansas (121) and Crowder (123) rounded out the top five in the team standings.

Central was led by Ariane Williams, who finished the 5k race in 21:06.57 for a 69th-place on the individual leaderboard. Asia Williams wasn't far behind, crossing the finish line in 21:49.86 for a 91st-place finish. Katlin Foster was also just behind Asia Williams, finishing 96th at 21:58.16.

Kandace Reynolds (22:27.69) and Kylee Smith (24:06.74) also ran to round out Central's counting scores. Maddie Gaxiola (25:25.31) also completed the 5k race for the Bronchos.

UCO returns next weekend with the Cowboy Jamboree Sept. 28 at Oklahoma State, and will follow that with the Old Glory Gallup Oct. 5 at Dallas Baptist. The final race on the regular season schedule is the ESU Invitational Oct. 11 at Emporia State. The 2024 MIAA Cross Country Championships are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26 and the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships are scheduled for Nov. 9 in Joplin, Missouri.
