Central Oklahoma Enters National Rankings

Bronchos Ranked 25th In D2Football Poll; Receiving Votes In AFCA Poll

Central Oklahoma is ranked in the latest edition of the D2football.com Top 25, with the Bronchos making their debut in the national rankings at No. 25, taking the final spot after a big Week 2 matchup this past Saturday in Edmond.

UCO is also receiving votes in this week's American Football Coaches Association Top 25, with the Bronchos earning the second-most votes of teams outside the Top 25.

Central Oklahoma beat previously ranked No. 2 Central Missouri 57-40 at Chad Richison Stadium Saturday night. The Bronchos improved to 2-0 with the win and are now 1-0 in the MIAA.

Four MIAA squads are in the D2football.com Top 25. Pittsburg State (2-1, 1-1) dropped to No. 6 after a loss to Emporia State. Central Missouri dropped to No. 11 following its loss in Edmond. Emporia State also made its season debut in the rankings at No. 18 following the win at previously ranked No. 4 Pitt State.

In the AFCA Top 25, Pitt State is 10, Central Missouri 11, and Emporia 13. After UCO, Nebraska Kearney and Fort Hays State are also receiving votes in this week's poll.

Saturday's win in Edmond came with three new school records and one new stadium record. Quarterback Jett Huff completed 42 of 54 passes for 457 yards and three touchdowns. His 42 completions are the most in a single game in school history. He also connected with wide receiver Terrill Davis 14 times for 203 yards and two touchdowns. Davis's 14 receptions are now a new single game record at UCO. Both beat the previous records by one completion/reception. As a team, UCO also set a new school record for 731 yards of total offense – 58 yards more than the previous mark.

The Bronchos also accomplished 36 first downs Saturday, one shy of the school record but one more than the Chad Richison Stadium record. In 2013, Pittsburg State came to Edmond and recorded 36 first downs. The Broncho football record is 37 first downs, accomplished at Missouri Southern in 2015.

Central Oklahoma takes on Nebraska Kearney (2-0, 1-0) in Week 3. The Bronchos travel to Kearney, Neb. Saturday with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. UCO returns home in Week 4 to host Fort Hays State, which was ranked No. 25 last week before suffering their first loss of the season.
