Bronchos Get Four Newcomers Across The Finish Line In Season Opening Event

LAWTON, Okla. – Central Oklahoma got the 2024 season started Friday morning with Cameron University's Aggie Duals.

UCO, which entered six runners in the event, did not score team points in the event due to less than five runners completing the race.

Newcomer Asia Williams led the Bronchos, finishing 33rd in the race. She completed the 5k course in 20:15.38 to earn UCO's low score of the day.

Ariane Williams, another newcomer to UCO this fall, was second across the line with a time of 21:02.81. That earned her a 48th-place finish in the event.

Katlin Foster, a third newcomer running for the Bronchos, was close behind and finished 51st with a time of 21:16.10. Maddie Gaxiola, Central's fourth newcomer entered in the race, finished 63rd with a time of 22:37.08.

Kylee Smith and Kandace Reynolds were both entered in the race but did not finish.

Central Oklahoma has seven races scheduled for the 2024 season including the Aggie Duals. The Bronchos are off this week and will compete at Missouri Southern's annual Southern Stampede Sept. 20 for a Friday evening run.

UCO is also competing in the Cowboy Jamboree Sept. 28 at Oklahoma State, the Old Glory Gallup Oct. 5 at Dallas Baptist, and the ESU Invitational Oct. 11 at Emporia State. The 2024 MIAA Cross Country Championships are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26 and the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships are scheduled for Nov. 9 in Joplin, Missouri.
